9/30 annually

Reporting Period:

10/01 to 9/30 annually

Required Hours:

40 hours of CPE is required each fiscal year ending 9/30

Ethics Required:

Starting October 1, 2019, at least 2 hours must be earned in a qualifying ethics course.

Subject Rqmts:

At least 8 of the 40 hours reported must be obtained in the subject of accounting and auditing.

Credit Limits:

  • Starting October 1, 2019, 100% of CPE may be self-study. Prior to October 1, 2019, a maximum of 50% or 20 hours in self-study courses was allowed. Courses from NASBA members, such as MasterCPE, are fully accepted by the Board.
  • Starting October 1, 2019, the behavioral/personal development courses limit increased from a maximum of 8 hours to a maximum of 12 hours.
  • Half credits are accepted after the first hour.

Other Policies:

Alabama accepts courses from providers that are members of NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors and the Quality Assurance Service.
